Maenclochog to Rosebush Walk
This is a unique walk with options for walkers of all ages and abilities. The walk offers opportunities to view sites of fascinating interest, from prehistoric monuments to relics of the area's hidden industrial past, as well as stunning landscape views where the geography of Pembrokeshire changes from predominantly farmed and wooded lowland to the wilder Preseli uplands.
There are three options.
Firstly, the main walk, from Maenclochog to Rosebush and back again, includes all the features mentioned above and is fairly easy walking apart from a strenuous hill climb in and out of Rosebush.
Secondly, the recently refurbished path from Maenclochog north to the edge of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is a low gradient walk over relatively easy terrain - ranging from pavements and tarmacced lanes, through recently upgraded pathways to boardwalked woodland trails. Suitable for most ages and abilities, this section of the walk encompasses beautiful wetlands, deciduous and coniferous woodland, and magical hidden treams, from where the full beauty of the Preseli Hills can be viewed - especially from one of the two new specially designated picnic areas. This walk can be attempted without the full array of modern walking equipment!
Thirdly, all sections of the walk connect with the network of footpaths and bridleways that cross the Preseli Hills, making Maenclochog - with its free parking and range of facilities - the ideal place to begin exploring these ancient uplands.
